The Honeypot Club is the means by which we deliver the aftercare that makes Honeypot so different. Once a child has had their first respite holiday at Honeypot House they become part of the Honeypot Club. This means that each year, until they are 12 years old, they will receive:
It is this programme of long-term, personalised and consistent support that makes Honeypot unique. We offer a lifeline to these children and give them something to look forward to. We provide hope and encouragement, build self-esteem and enable them to create nurturing friendships with other children going through a similar experience. They leave us feeling confident, happy, relaxed and better able to cope with the challenges they face at home.
After the age of 12, the children move on to the care of other organisations that specialise in working with older age groups, where they will be supported through to adulthood. We have a close partnership with UK Youth – a national organisation that works with young people aged 13-19 yrs – offering Honeypot children the opportunity for ongoing respite breaks. In their final year with Honeypot the children’s last visit to us is hosted at UK Youth’s outdoor activity centre at Avon Tyrell also in the New Forest, where more adventurous activities are available that are much better suited to the older age group. Having made the initial transition away from Honeypot, the children will then continue to be supported by UK Youth.
